George, Last one came through fine. We are moving furniture around, doing odd carpentry chores while here, catching the Sox only by the minute or so updates on Boston.com. I was a Braves fan too. We knew the batting averages of Sibi Sisti and Sam Jethro and Tommy out in right, all my gang did as kids. Catch up later.

Tom, thanks for the reply. Congratulations on the new arrival. Having grand kids beats the you-know-what out of having your own--well almost. Big Oil thanks you for driving to Chicago. Actually, from what I've heard, hell isn't in hell anymore, it's in airports. Good luck on the books. You must be proud. You should be proud.

Well, Manny is a Dodger--I never liked the Dodgers--and now Joe Torre will begin earning his money. I have been a life-long Braves fan. I cried the day they announced that they were moving to Milwaukee. There was a time I despised the Red Sox. They five times the ink that the Braves got, and I honestly believe, because of that foolish left field wall, Red Sox games weren't really as good as the games--or teams--in the National League. I root for the Sox now, because it's fun to have the best team in the game in town.

I hope this goes through. I returned a message to you Thursday night, only to have it zoom out to electronic left field, where ever that is. George

George, Lots of stuff flying my way about the Cochran murder, which stunned me as a youngster, and has always intrigued me. There were times, as a kid, that I dreamed of catching the bad guy. There have been those who had suspicions about their own family members, lo these 70 or so years cloud all kinds of issues.
I am in Chicago at the moment, welcoming a new grandson into the world, Cavan Thomas Sheehan, and gas prices driving out here ranged from $4.23 to $3.69 a gallon. We will celebrate here for a few weeks, nestle into VT for a few days on the way back to Saugus, and await two of my new books, one of which will carry Frances's story. I just heard about the Ramirez trade and am happy the malcontent is outbound, though I think it is all tied into his agent's think-tank philosophy on how to get ALL the media on board the issue. I suspect that we spent many a fall evening or day at Manning Bowl, in the good old days of 18-20,000 people in the mix. I have seen, locally at home, District 16 LL games, Babe Ruth games, Legion games, either at Wyoma, behind English High, World Series Park in Saugus or Stackpole, and remember well Harry and Bert Freeman and teammates on the Classical teams, and the day my teammate and Harry's cousin, Ernie Anganis, saw Harry's first game at Fenway... with a single and a triple in his initial day at batting. Not to be forgotten here.
